Lithium tetrafluoroborate (LiBF4, CAS 14283-07-9) is a white or yellowish powder, which is extremely soluble in water. It has good solubility in carbonate solvent and ether compounds. Its melting point is between 293-300 ℃, and its relative density is 0.852 g/cm3. Lithium tetrafluoroborate has good chemical stability and thermal stability. It is mainly used as an additive for LiPF6-based electrolyte system to improve cycle life and improve the performance of lithium-ion batteries. Adding LiBF4 into the electrolyte can broaden the operating temperature range of lithium ion batteries and improve the high and low temperature discharge performance of batteries.
