2-pyrrolidone crystallization point

As we know, 2-pyrrolidone is colorless transprant liquid in normal temperature. This is the best form we use it because the most valuable character of 2-pyrrolidone is its solvency ability. But we also know that the melting point /crystallization point is 25.6℃ in theory for 2-pyrrolidone. 2-pyrrolidone is in liquid form when temperature is higher than 25.6℃; and in crystal form when temperature is below 25.6℃. In our production, we found that when temperature gets around 23℃, 2-pyrrolidone may begin to change its appearance (liquid or crystal). 

How to use 2-pyrrolidone after it solidifies ?

During the past 15 years, many of our 2-pyrrolidone asked one question when winter comes: how to get the 2-pyrrolidone out the drum and how to use it? Here we hope the following tips helpful for you.

In winter when temperature below 25.6℃, 2-pyrrolidone may crystalize in the drum. At this point, we can't get crystal out of the drum. But we can heat the drum. Our experience tells us that we can put the drum in hot water or use steam or put the drum in surrounding temperature higher than surrounding. 

All above ways can help us to get the liquid form 2-pyrrolidone. Here we have to pay attention to packing mode of 2-pyrrolidone. Steel iron drum is better than plastic way to stand for heating. This is why we recommend all customers to choose steel drum packing especially in cool winter.
