Zika Virus is a member of the virus family Flaviviridae and the genus Flavivirus. It is spread by daytime-active Aedes mosquitoes.
In January 2016, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued travel guidance on affected countries, including the use of enhanced precautions, and guidelines for pregnant women including considering postponing travel. Other governments or health agencies also issued similar travel warnings, while Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Jamaica advised women to postpone getting pregnant until more is known about the risks. There is the most common activie ingredient in insect repellents called DEET, full name N, N-Diethyl-Meta-Toluamide CAS 134-62-3. It is a slightly yellow oil intended to be applied to the skin or to clothing, and provides protection against mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, chiggers, leeches, and many biting insects.
And The insect repellent containing DEET have beet tested and proved as safe to kids, but you should take some precautions with them and is not recommended for babies younger than 2 months old.
