1,6-Hexanediol (1,6-HDO, CAS 629-11-8) is a colorless crystalline solid with a melting point of 42 ℃ and a boiling point of 250 ℃. It is soluble in water. It is an important chemical raw material and one of the important raw materials for various organic synthesis.
Application area
It is used to produce hardener of polyurethane, unsaturated polyester, plasticizer, gelling agent, heat stable qualitative modifier of lubricating oil, etc. It is also used in the production of pesticide pyrethrum, organic peroxide, annular musk, polyethylene plastic cross-linking agent and polyether rubber.
1) Polyurethane field: polyurethane elastomer is widely used in synthetic rubber, elastic fiber, synthetic leather and other fields. 1,6-hexanediol can be used in polyester resin to modify polyurethane elastomer. The modified resin has excellent mechanical strength, water resistance, heat resistance and oxidation resistance.
2) Polyester field: because the carbon chain of 1,6-hexanediol unsaturated polyester is more difficult to hydrolyze than that of other short chain alcohol unsaturated polyester, and has better flexibility, it can improve the alkali resistance of the resin and improve its adhesion with glass fiber. In terms of saturated polyester, the polyester prepared from 1,6-hexanediol and 4,4-dicarboxylic acid diphenylsulfonic acid has high tensile strength and high elasticity. Excellent solvent resistance and swelling resistance, especially suitable for photographic substrate. The polyester of 1,6-hexanediol and terephthalic acid is suitable for the treatment of polyester fibers.
3) Synthetic resin additive: compared with the plasticizer with low molecular weight, the plasticizer with 1,6-hexanediol has excellent performance in volatility resistance, oil spray resistance, migration resistance and low temperature resistance, and can be widely used in plastics, rubber, epoxy resin and other materials.
