Properties of Dioctyl terephthalate DOTP CAS 4654-26-6
DOTP is a main plasticizer with excellent performance. In addition to slightly inferior plasticizing performance to DOP, it has better physical and mechanical properties than DOP. It is superior to DOP in terms of electrical resistance, heat resistance, low temperature volatility, and low glass transition temperature. It exhibits excellent durability, soapy water resistance, and low tenderness and softness in products. Due to its low volatility, it fully meets the temperature resistance requirements of wires and cables and meets the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards. Due to its linear molecular structure similar to DOS and DOA, DOTP has good cold resistance. The volume resistivity of DOTP is 10-20 times higher than that of DOP, and it has excellent migration resistance.

Application
DOTP has good electrical and thermal properties, and can be used as a substitute for DOP in PVC plastic electrical wire sheaths, as well as in the production of artificial leather films. In addition, it has excellent compatibility and can also be used for plasticizers of acrylonitrile derivatives, polyvinyl butyral, nitrile rubber, nitrocellulose, etc. It also plays a role in improving the hardness and deformability of products, and can be used as a softener in products such as nitrile rubber, chloroprene rubber, and ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber. Especially used in cable materials, it has good plasticizing effect and low volatility, and is widely used in various products requiring heat resistance and high insulation. It is an ideal plasticizer for producing temperature resistant 70 ℃ cable materials and other volatile resistant PVC products.
DOTP is also used as a high-quality lubricant or lubricating additive for paints, coatings, and precision instruments for advanced furniture and interior decoration, nitrocellulose varnish additives, paper softeners, polyester amide biaxially stretched films, film plastic crafts, plasma storage bags, and so on. It is a widely used plasticizer.
