Thioglycolic acid (TGA) is a curly (hair straightening) agent and a chemical depilatory. It was invented as a chemical depilatory in the 1940s. According to Wikipedia, its three exposures (dermal, oral, and inhalation) are all toxic up to a certain level. Related domestic papers have also found through experiments that skin may cause liver and kidney damage, with reproductive toxicity and mutagenicity. Domestic regulations stipulate that it can only be used in perm and hair removal products. Generally, it cannot exceed 8% for perm, 11% for professional, and 5% for hair removal products. Avoid contact with eyes; if the product gets into eyes accidentally, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical treatment; wear suitable gloves. It must be stated on the product label: Contains thioglycolate; use according to instructions; prevent children from grasping; only for professional use.
