Glycerol formal has a very low odor and toxicity profile making it ideal for use in a variety of applications as described below:
Pharmaceuticals - as a non-aqueous solvent carrier in the manufacture of injectable solutions (e.g. Ivermectin, Nimesulide),and a aqueous injectable solutions(e.g. Long-acting Oxotetracyline, Sulphadiazine sodium and Trimethoprim).
Binder solvent - to produce foundry core in various casting processes.
Additives for water-based inks - the water miscibility of Glycerol Formal makes it ideal for water-based ink formulations, as well as for the manufacture of glycerol formal acrylates.
Coalescence improver - for water dispersion of acrylic and PVA paints sampled with frost resistant agents.
