Polyethylene glycol PEG 1500 is used as a softening agent in medicine suture and the lubricant of surgical. As an ointment, the water soluble no stimulation to the skin, easy to wash, not easy moldy. PEG is soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, acetonitrile, benzene, and dichloromethane, and is insoluble in diethyl ether and hexane.
