Usage
Used as a catalyst for polyurethane synthesis and room temperature vulcanization of silicone rubber. It is also used as a catalyst type curing agent for epoxy resin. During curing, the catalytic activity of stannous octanoate is greater than that of dibutyltin dilaurate. If the two are used in combination, the effect is better than when used alone, which can balance reaction speed and curing speed. Due to the susceptibility of divalent tin compounds to oxidation and decomposition by oxygen and water vapor in the air, they must be stored for nitrogen protection and must be sealed to avoid high temperatures and excessive humidity, in order to prevent decreased activity or failure.
