Product Name: Iron stearate
Synonyms: Ferric stearate; iron tristearate; Iron(Ⅲ) stearate; Ferric III Stearate
CAS Number: 555-36-2
Molecular formula: (C17H35COO) 3FeMolecular weight: 905
Property
This product is an orange red powder, non-toxic, odorless, tasteless, and non flammable. Insoluble in water, soluble in hot organic solvents such as ethanol, ether, chloroform, acetone, turpentine, and benzene. It has water absorption in the air, so it is important to pay attention to moisture prevention. Decompose into stearic acid and corresponding iron salts when encountering strong acids.
Usage
This product is a photosensitizer for the photodegradation of polyolefins, mainly used as an additive for the photodegradation of polyolefin film products, such as agricultural films, agricultural films, packaging bags, shopping bags, construction packaging films, garbage bags, etc. Its accelerated photodegradation effect is obvious, and the photolysis rate is fast. It can be used in combination with phenolic antioxidants, but light stabilizers will slow down its photolysis. Its dosage generally accounts for 0.01~1wt% of the weight of polyolefin, which can photodegrade polyolefin within a predetermined time, thereby controlling the service life of polyolefin film products.
